Cast & Still Life, Master Study Program

In addition to the supplies indicated in the section above, you will need to bring a high resolution print from the Charles Bargue Drawing Course. The first three projects of the Programs will be studies from this book.

You can find the Bargue Drawing Course for free online courtesy of the Internet Archive here.

For your first day of class choose between the first level Bargues. Once you have chosen your Bargue you need to get it printed. We recommend going to the local Fedex (130 W Broadway St, Missoula, MT). Prints should be high quality and as close to the original image as possible.

For Level 1 Bargues, The size of drawing subject (not paper size) should be roughly 8″. If your image is horizontal, make sure the width is around 8″. If your image is vertical, make sure the height is around 8″.

For Level 2 Bargues, The size of drawing subject (not paper size) should be roughly 12” or slightly larger. How large will depend on your selected image and if it is vertical or horizontal. Once you have chosen your plate let us know which one you have selected so we can help you choose your size. We can cut the print and paper to size here in the studio when we place them on the drawing board.

For Level 3 Charcoal Bargues, The size of the paper of your print should be 10 x 14 as well as your paper. The image should be as large as possible on that 10 x 14 paper.

We will have some extra Bargue prints on hand in the Studio in case you don’t have time or something happens with the print.
